By the time it gets to the front, the train will be at the station and we’ll be home free. David Kaplan: That’s so damn stupid. The tickets are probably about twelve dollars. Benji Kaplan: It’s a matter of principle. We shouldn’t have to pay for train tickets in Poland.

I saw this at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival

Jesse Eisenberg had previously made When You Finish Saving the World, which was interesting but unfortunately a bit annoying. Here, Eisenberg’s direction and screenplay for this film shows that he has improved greatly as many of the characters are interesting and engaging, good dialogue and great performances, especially Kieran Culkin who steals the show throughout the film. The narrative explores family history and complicated relationships as each theme and exploration of the themes were handled well and it was fun, emotional and engaging to watch. This included beautiful camera work, a good score, and conversations that felt real, authentic, and engaging. Eisenberg’s approach to chemistry, structure, and pacing was good as he crafted a really beautiful, engaging, and personal story about family history and the true meaning of bonding and relationships.

There were a few soundtrack choices that felt a little off

But overall, Eisenberg has improved and I can’t wait to see what else he can bring to the table. From Alien: Romulus to Road House, check out some of our favorite posters from 2024.
